August 6, 1994 a dream came true for Heidi and Michael Schuerstedt with the opening of Heidi's Bakery in Niles, Illinois. Michael is from Germany and is a graduate of the Master Baking School, The Meisterschule in Olpe, Germany. Heidi credits her parents for her work ethic, emphasizing that a job well done must always include enthusiasm and a concern for others. This will be obvious when you meet her in the bakery showroom.

Sue Wessel, Executive Secretary to the Chairman of Coca-Cola says,
"Everyone is very accommodating and I appreciate the bakery being open seven
days a week. Also I like the smiling faces and the fresh, clean look of the pink and
white uniforms". -
colors carried throughout the bakery.

Lorraine Makela, Owner and Chef of the Chambers Restaurant and Lounge says,
"Heidi's Bakery has been more than responsive to our needs. They maintain high
quality and innovative products for everyone to enjoy".

At Heidi's Bakery, their European trained bakers can prepare any ethnic specialty you
might desire. Besides their famous Apple Cinnamon Loaf, customers enjoy King's
Crown which is German Pound Cake with a pastry dough wrapped around it. Other
specialties include Pecan Stars, Pretzels, Rye Bread, Double Torte, Butter Cookies,
German Apple Cheesecake and Raspberry Almond Slices.

We opened the Libertyville store in April of 2003 and now our excited to open a new location in Paddock Lake in May of 2011.

Stop by and enjoy the friendly, hometown atmosphere,
you will be happy you did!

The photo below was taken from the Good Eating section of the Chicago Tribune in
October of 1997. Heidi's bakery was chosen from 1 of 300 bakeries nominated by their
customers, and the top 20 were written up in the Tribune. Two of the top 20 were
chosen to be photographed and Heidi's was selected for their excellent pretzels, pretzel
rolls, pretzel sticks & cheese pretzel sticks.
